North Devon Homes launched their corporate plan earlier this year, setting out their pledge to improve their environmental impact on the planet
North Devon Homes has been named as one of the most environmentally sustainable housing providers in the UK.
They have been recognised for their commitment to reducing their impact on the planet and going above and beyond to improve the sustainability of their housing stock.
The judges, at Housing Digital, were impressed with the achievements made by the community landlord. These included being the first provider in the UK to use Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries without solar PV and completing a two-home retrofit using the EnergieSprong approach to building. Both schemes not only lower energy demand but also reducing customer bills.
North Devon Homes launched their corporate plan earlier this year, setting out their pledge to improve their environmental impact on the planet.
Chief executive, Martyn Gimber explained: We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and so we were delighted to place 15 in the Top 30 sustainable housing providers nationally.
Earlier this year we launched our corporate plan for the next three years which outlines our pledge to reduce our carbon footprint as we work with our partners on more projects towards our Net Zero goals, he said.
As a community landlord we take sustainability to mean more than just our green agenda, he said.
One in ten people in North Devon live in a home managed by North Devon Homes and so our sustainability promise goes to our customers as well as our impact on the planet, he said.
North Devon Homes are working on a number of projects including eco-friendly heating and introducing heat pumps as a part of their strategy to get all their homes to a minimum EPC grading of C by 2030.
