A £56 million business park employing up to 500 people has got the green light. The go-ahead has been given for the Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park to be built in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire.
Plans for the 37-acre business development have been put forward by the district council, and work on the infrastructure can now start as early as the autumn, once a tender process is completed.
Building work is expected to continue through to 2027, with the 400,000 sq ft of floor space for new and expanding businesses.
North Kesteven District Council said the design is a potential blueprint for eco-conscious development in future, demonstrating how features such as walkways around ponds, tree planting and wildflower verges can create an environment that supports wildlife and is nice for the people working there.
The units in the park will be available for lease for light and general industrial use, warehousing and distribution, with some office space and the option of some trade showrooms.
North Kesteven District Council leader Coun Richard Wright said: We’re incredibly excited to begin moving our Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park scheme forward from vision into reality, with a tender process and infrastructure work next in line to take place.
Our total investment will be in the region of £56 million, an unquestionable declaration of confidence in North Kesteven as the place to live and work in Lincolnshire, he said. It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our communities and businesses which already call North Kesteven their home.
It’s particularly exciting because we’ve worked hard on ensuring Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park sets the bar for responding to climate change in such developments, he said.
There’s a focus on tree planting, landscaping, wildflower verges, native planting and sustainable drainage systems onsite, alongside carbon-cutting measures incorporated within the design of its future buildings, such as electric vehicle charging points, solar panels and air source heat pumps. It all supports our aim for North Kesteven to become carbon neutral by 2030, Coun Wright said.
He said that all these measures also provide a positive environment for employee wellbeing, which we know is an equally important requirement for businesses. Already we’ve received significant interest to securing businesses for the site.
