Gardaí seize tools stolen in the UK and brought to Ireland for sale on black market

Gardaí have recovered more than €50,000 (£42,163) worth of stolen tools and equipment which was destined to be sold on the black market here.

The stolen industrial power tools and gardening machinery were stolen in the UK before being brought here to sell. The goods were discovered in two vehicles, one of which was also stolen, at Dublin Port on Saturday evening.

Two Irish men (aged 29 and 38) were also arrested and will appear in the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning, charged with handling stolen property.

The operation was carried out by Gardaí attached to the South Eastern Region, the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Special Crime Task Force.
