Nearly 70 per cent are proposed to be private while 30 per cent are proposed to be affordable

Plans to build nearly 30 houses on developed greenbelt land opposite a major housing site in West Windsor have been submitted.

Westbourne Homes have put forward outline plans to demolish a storage building in order to build 29 homes at Oakley Green Mushroom Farm in Oakley Green.

The developer is only asking the council to consider the scheme’s access, layout, and scale where a full and final planning application will be submitted at another stage.

The homes will be a mix of one, two, three, and four-bed properties and will compromise of maisonettes and homes. The houses will be one to 2.5-storeys in height.

Nearly 70 per cent are proposed to be private while 30 per cent are proposed to be affordable.

No precise number of car parking spaces was given but the planning statement states there will be provision for both on-street and off-street which is in line with council policy.

Just opposite the site, Wates has submitted outline plans to build 320 homes, a special needs school, and a community centre between the A308 and the new Aldi supermarket as well as 135 homes north of the A308.

About 100 residents and stakeholders were invited to take part in a consultation. Locals raised concerns over the lack of parking spaces, lack of a doctor’s surgery, additional traffic at peak times, pedestrian safety on the A308, and access from the site to the West Windsor site.

The developer said a toucan crossing with traffic lights on the A308 has been proposed as part of Wates’ scheme but is looking at adding new access and footpaths to the application site. Land north of the site could be preserved as open space.
