Property in Glasgow drives the rise in Scottish house prices in May

The average house price in Scotland rose 0.6 per cent in May, driven by surging prices around Glasgow.

The typical home north of the Border now costs £175,070, according to the latest Your Move Scotland House Price Index. May’s rise takes the yearly increase in prices to 3 per cent.

The average Scottish price was heavily dependent on activity around Glasgow. The increase in prices in the city in May represented 60 per cent of the total monthly rise of £1,014 seen across Scotland as a whole.
