Purplebricks also found that the most popular searches have been for three- and four-bedroom homes in the £150,000-£190,000 bracket and for £200,000

People looking to move house in and around Wolverhampton have been focusing their efforts on three particular postcode areas.

2021 saw a property market boom, with UK house prices growing at the fastest pace in 15 years and the average price at a record £272,992.

Now, estate agent Purplebricks which analysed the data for Wolverhampton ’s most popular postcodes and house hunter searches found that from January to November 2021, the three most popular postcode areas searched for were: WV4, which includes Penn and Parkfields; WV10, which includes Bushbury, Featherstone and Shareshill; and WV14, which includes Bilston.

It also found that the most popular searches have been for three- and four-bedroom homes in the £150,000-£190,000 bracket and for £200,000.

Rachel Mcintosh, local property partner at Purplebricks for Bilston, said: Bilston is a popular area with buyers because it is central for communicating and has a good choice of properties, from lower priced ones to higher end. It’s a great place to live because it is friendly and diverse. This year, there has been a slight increase in people wanting an extra bedroom or office in a property.

Jamie Dryburgh, local property partner at Purplebricks for WV4 and WV10 said there is always high demand in WV4 because of the excellent schools, tight knit communities and large properties on big plots make it a very popular area with buyers.

A trend I see here are extended semi detached properties, he said. There are a number of five-bed semis with home offices and gyms, cinemas and lots of en suites that I’ve seen over the years. In terms of requests from buyers, they’d like properties on a large plot with scope to extend, and within the catchment areas of specific schools.

He added that for WV10, affordable properties and transport links to the M6 and M54 are the chief reasons for its popularity.

There’s been quite a lot of modern builds in the area in the past decade that appeal to first time buyers, added Jamie.
